T Minus 48 Hours

We’ve been packing…and packing…and cleaning…and packing… And it’s almost time! This week has been crazy, with more curve balls thrown our way then I would care to discuss. But it is almost moving day! We only have a few more final items to pack, and then we are headed to Ohana for good. And that feels sooo good!

We’ve been really fortunate with the move that we really started the process LAST year at this time when we moved out of our three bedroom house and into a two bedroom apartment. We did an epic purge of all of our belongings during that move, and it really has made this move so much easier. Of course, Jeff’s sister Christina and her family are moving into our apartment for a bit, so that really helps as well because we don’t need to move any furniture.

The girls have both been great about the move too. Josie, who has been reluctant to leave home, was great about putting her boat box together. And LouLou keeps talking about boat school. I know that it will take time to adjust to our new boat life, but I’m really happy the girls are being so adaptable right now.

I just can’t wait to be living down at the marina and then, even better, out in some remote anchorage. It makes me remember back in my navy days – so funny that I actually had “my navy days” – ha! – but it’s true. I remember how much I loved waking up on the ship and being out in the sea air. I didn’t love all the – well – orders? – back then though. It feels so much better now. Now I’m going to sea on my own terms – and of course, the terms of LouLou, Josie, and Jeff. 🙂 It’s a super exciting time.
